She works into her painting themes and iconographies from art history, their development and transformation, the interweaving of traditions and variations connecting the ancient with the contemporary. Mythology, the lives of saints, contemporary photographs, become the constituent elements of an intimate archive in which distant and disconnected images are combined and made visible. The oil technique in large sized canvases allows the artist to act impulsively and to edit the images and multi-layered composition time and again. As in a memoir, stories intermingle and overlap, or fade in the distance, leaving behind a tiny detail.
